Self fulfilling prophecy
Not so long time ago, the world was used to be ruled by gods and goddess.
Being immortal, the gods had exist in the world for a long time, thus see the mortals with apathy.
They no longer treat the mortal with respect. Almost all of them became petty and cruel, looking after their ownselves with no regards of the powerless humans.

Among the gods themselves, they were often in a heated conflict to obtain the authority above others. This had gone on for etenity. Then again, they were immortal, they had all the time in the world for this.

One day, the Fates came to them and made a prophecy.

"A child of a great warrior will soon be born and the child will bring about the twilight of the gods,"They said emotionlessly.

Feeling threatened, all the gods combed the entire world in search of any new born child, killing every single one in sight mercilessly.
Being powerful and almightly for a long time, they had totally forgotten how fearsome a mother who was protecting their young could be.

With courage, the female warrior led the people to go against the cruel gods that they had been worshipping all their lives.
Many innocent lives were lost going against the gods. Nonetheless, the gods were determined to get rid of the threat, who was just a baby.

During the battle, the warrior offered a treaty; to leave the mother and child alone and she promised not to go against the god.
However, the gods unable to accept such opposition from a mortal refused to give in and decided to have a full pledge attack on the baby.

The mother, in desperation and was unable to kill a god, used her wits to get the gods to fight amongst themselves.
Eventually, those gods who were cruel and were afraid of their downfall were killed by none other than the other gods. While those kind and merciful gods, who would rather encounter certain doom than to be involve in the killing of an innocent child, survived.

Hence, led to the twilight of the gods.

If the gods had not be so fearful of the prophecy to think that a mere child will be able to lead to their downfall, it will not have happen at all.

Self fulfilling prophecy.
